The Lighthouse Beacon Foundation Scholarship

The Lighthouse Beacon Foundation Scholarship strengthens the academic excellence of Kentucky students by providing need-based scholarships to those pursuing an engineering education at the University of Kentucky Pigman College of Engineering. Through the scholarship’s Lighthouse Beacon Scholars (LBS) Program, students gain the skills, experiences, and professional traits needed to address real-world challenges, achieve success in their academic pursuits, and make a lasting impact in their communities.

The LBS is a formal scholarship enrichment program that includes engagement activities, encouraging classes, inspirational programs, and a formal mentoring platform. It is designed to improve student retention, boost internship, co-op, and job placements, and increase graduation rates. 

The LBS hosts and supports dozens of engagement opportunities throughout the year to encourage and enlighten students. LBS activities engage and celebrate the annual success of the students with families and administrators at the annual Scholarship Luncheon. LBS first-year students focus on success strategies, adaptation approaches, and leadership themes through Pigman Pathways Seminars. LBS programs build confidence and elevate skill levels for students and provides students with a unique and transformational life investment and is centered on creating an ecosystem of support by placing students on the path to success.
